Cervical Smears

The practice offers a cervical smear screening service, and all women between the ages of 25 and 64 will automatically be invited every three to five years to attend. The smear is normally undertaken by a Practice nurse by appointment. The test results are usually available after about 5 weeks. Please ensure you attend your appointment for this important test.

Test Results

If the doctor asks you to have blood or other diagnostic tests, it is your responsibility to contact the surgery about the results. The surgery will only contact you if there is an urgent need to follow your results up. You can phone the surgery on 0208 887 8354 between 11.00 am and 4.00 pm on weekdays and press option 2 to ask about your results. Please note that the administrative staff cannot interpret the results for you - if you need to ask questions about them, you will need to speak to a clinician. A telephone appointment can be booked with a doctor for you to save you coming in to the surgery.

Fees For Private Work

Some types of certificates, medical examinations and reports are not covered by the National Health Service. We use the guidance of the British Medical Association to set fees for these. Such work includes private medical insurance reports, holiday insurance cancellation certificates, and Public Carriage Office forms. Certain travel vaccinations are not provided by the NHS and a charge will be levied for their administration. It is our surgery policy not to sign passport forms or similar documents for patients.

Other Heathcare Services

Primary care services not provided at our surgery are provided by:

Enfield Clinical Commissioning Group

Holbrook House
Cockfosters Road

Clinical Commissioning Groups were formed as a result of the NHS White Paper “Equality and excellence: Liberating the NHS” and the subsequent health and social care bill. These set out the governments long term plans for the future of the NHS, and states how the  NHS will:

  • Put patients at the heart of what the NHS does
  • Focus on improving those things that really matter to patients
  • Empower and liberate clinicians to innovate, with the freedom to focus on improving healthcare

The fundamental difference with a clinical commissioning group is that they are led by clinicians. For patients, this means that Doctors will be heavily involved in ensuring the appropriate provision of local health services, and will work more collaboratively with other organisations in making decisions about health.
